Marple Township Ambulance Corps participated in the annual 4th of July Parade on West Chester Pike. All of MTAC’s vehicles were in the line of march and MTAC staffed 2 EMS golf carts to respond quickly to medical emergencies. Members that participated were EMT’s Heather Albright, Kim Anderson, Rose Horn, Shirl Schiff, Marie Rantz, Ian McAnlis, Ryan Mulliken, Liz Zeminski, Jason Shermer, Laura Hurd, Nicole Smith, Paramedics Brian Ploppert and Rob Dixon and President Karen Standen and Chief Bill Downey.

MTAC participated in the annual Memorial Day Parade held along West
Chester Pike. Leading the pack was Chief Bill Downey the crews of
paramedics Rob Dixon and David Stoeckl and EMT’s Heather Albright,
Tom Gorski, Kelly Johnson, Susie Monahan and Ian McAnlis.
- MVA - West Chester Pike & Lawrence Road - 12/15/03
At appox 19:14 hours Company, Ambulance and Medic 53 were dispatched
to West Chester Pike and Lawrence Road for an accident with entrapment.
Numerous units arrived on scene at the same time and determined there
was no entrapment but 3 injuries. At this time a second ambulance
out of Manoa (56-7) was dispatched to assist. With the help of Company
53, 53-7A and M53 packaged there two patients and transported two
to CCMC. One pt was BLS and one ALS. 56-7 transported one BLS to Lankenau.
Units on scene were 53-7A, M53, Rescue 53, 53-2, 53-3, 56-7 MTPD and
Haverford PD.

Ambulance 53 was dispatched to 901 S. Media Line Road for an MVA on
the back driveway of the college by the pond. While enroute 53-7 was
advised by MTPD that it was a two vehicle accident involving a Ryder
truck and passenger car, with one minor injury. Upon arrival of 53-7
patient was evaluated and taken to Riddle Memorial Hosp for a possible
broken wrist. Units on scene 53-7 and Marple Police.

At Approx. 17:34 Ambulance and Medic 53 were dispatched to West Chester
Pike and Fairview Ave for an accident with injuries. Both Ambulance
and Medic 53 went responding within a minute of the dispatch. 53-7
arrived on location first to find a two vehicle accident with one
minor injury and one refusal. Medic 53 made himself available and
53-7 transported one minor injury to DCMH.
- Accident with Entrapment - Red Hill and South Parkway Blvd -
8/16/03
On Saturday August 16th Ambulance and Medic 53 were dispatched to
Red Hill Drive and South Parkway Blvd. Within minutes 53-7A and Medic
53 were responding. As the two units went responding the assignment
was upgraded to an Accident w/ entrapment vehicle reported to be on
its roof. 53-9 and MTPD went on location and reported no injuries
and reduced the speed of all incoming apparatus. Upon arrival of Medic
53 and 53-7A there was a one vehicle accident vehicle on its roof
with both occupants self extricated. One patient had very minor injurys
but do to both occupants being minors they were transported to Bryn
Mawr Hospital by 53-7A. Units on scene were M53, 53-7A, 53-2, 53-9
and MTPD. Units were clear the accident scene within 25 minutes.

At approx 5:30 am Company and Ambulance 53 were dispatched to 732
Hedgerow Drive for a Building fire. Almost immediatly after dispatch
one of Marple Twps police officers was on location reporting a working
house fire. A few minutes later 53-9A arrived on location and confirmed
a 2 story colonial heavy fire from all sides. Ambulances 53-7A and
53-7 stood by and established Rehab for the firefighters where they
could get water and also have there vitals monitiored while they were
resting. Also assisting with rehab was Medic 53. 53-7 transported
one firefighter to Bryn Mawr Hospital after a heat related incident.
The unit then returned to the scene to continue with rehab. Units
on scene were 53-7 and 7a, M53, 53-11, 53-9A (Command), Tele 53, Snorkel
53, 53- 3, Rescue 53, Ladder 41, 41-1, 41-3, 41-7, M108 and M106,
56-7, 14-1, Rescue 58, Units on scene for approx 4 1/2 hours. There
were no injuries to any family members.

On Saturday May 17th Marple Ambulance held its annual EMS day at Russell
Elementary School. This event is held every year to show the residents
of Marple Township what Marple Ambulance does. Also on location were
Broomall Fire Company and Marple Township Police. The ambulance and
fire company participated in a vehicle rescue demonstration. Pictures

Motor Vehicle Accident- Two vehicle accident in front of Rita's Waterice.
At the determination of Medic 53 patient was flown by Medical Helicopter.

At around 1:45 a.m., Marple Ambulance as well as Medic 53 and BFC
was dispatched to an accident on the Blue Route, Marple Police were
on location reporting a severely wrecked vehicle. A tractor trailer
had run over the back of the smaller vehicle, as it was in his blind

At approx 4:30 am on Monday morning Company and Ambulance 53 were
dispatched to the area of Old Cedar Grove and Gradyville for a possible
dwelling fire. 53-9 went on location reporting a unoccupied dwelling
fully involved. While firefighters from 53 were fighting the fire.
Unit 53-7A was providing rehab for the firefighters with water available
to the firefighters. Also on location was 53-7 and Medic 53 available
if any firefighter were to be injured or need medical attention. Thankfully
no injuries were reported and units were clear at 0730. Units on location
were 53-7A, 53-7, Medic 53, 53-2, Tele 53, Snorkel 53, Rescue 53 and

On a very busy day for Marple Ambulance second ambulance 53-7A (Mcneil
and Walsh) and Broomall fire company were dispatched to Westbourne
Drive for a residential rescue. Patient was working on his boat when
the supports failed and it fell on top of him. Upon arrival of the
crew from 53-7A and 53-11 (Downey) PennStar was placed on Standby.
Medic 108 arrived and advised Fireboard to fly Pennstar. Pt was taken
to Loomis Elementary School where 53-7A and Medic 108 met up with
Pennstar. Pt was flown to HUP and units were available. Pictures by

This vehicle was traveling north on I-476 (Blue Route) when it lost
control and rolled over several time landing on it's roof. The driver
was partially ejected and trapped. Crews from Broomall and Springfield
Fire/Rescue extricated the patient. Patient was flown by PennStar
to HUP. 3 passengers were transported to Mercy Community Hospital
and treated for minor injuries.

The driver of this vehicle said that she thought she put the car into
reverse and pressed on the accelerator and drove through the Block
Buster. 2 patrons received minor injuries. 53-7A was dispatched to
assist.

This 5 car accident was called in as WCP and Lawence Rd. in Marple
but it turned out to be in Havertown. 1 patient was flown by PennStar
to HUP.

Marple Township Ambulance Corps hosted the annual Marple EMS Day.
Even the rain couldn't keep the residence away. There was lots of
Food and Fun for everyone. Sallyann Mosey from Channel 6 Action News
was among the entertainment for the day.

Two vehicle accident with one vehicle overturned. These vehicles colided
in the intersection splitting a pick-up truck in half. Both drivers
were taken to Springfield Hospital and treated.

New Jersey. We should receive one the first week of February.

This is the scene of a tractor trailer that rolled over on the on
ramp. The driver was seriously injured and flown by PennStar to HUP.
Broomall Fire Company extricated the driver and none of the load leaked
out.

Here are some pictures of the area during the storm. Marple Township
was under a state of emergency and with the help of Marple Police,
Marple Ambulance and Broomall Fire Company, many homes and apartments
were evacuated.

One vehicle accident with one injury. Patient was learning how to
drive when she lost control and struck a utility pole and overturned.
Patient was transported to University of Penn for injuries to her
hand and chest.

After a major thunderstorm rolled through the area, lightning struck
this house causing a fire that was undetected for some time. No one
was home and when the first fire truck arrived, flames had consumed
the roof. One firefighter was transported to Mercy Community Hospital,
treated and released for dehydration and one firefighter was treated
for a minor eye injury at the scene.

Four vehicle accident with three injuries. Two patients were transported
to Trauma Center and one child transported to Bryn Mawr Hospital.
At the same time, a motorcycle lost control and hit a tree causing
severe injuries at Old Cedar Grove and Cedar Grove Roads. That patient
was transported to HUP via PennStar Helicopter.

This two car accident was a result of a power outage when the traffic
lights were out. One subject sustained minor injuries when his mini
van turned on it's side and slid 200 feet down the road.

- Ambulance Fire - I-476 between exits 4 & 5 6/18/99

This ambulance was transporting a patient to an area hospital when
a fire started under the body. The driver immediately pulled over
and knocked the fire down which consumed the entire back of the ambulance
trapping the patient. The fire was extinguished and no injuries occurred.

One vehicle accident with one subject injured. The driver of this
vehicle lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole then
rolled over 1 time. Driver was transported to Mercy Community Hospital

Two car head on collision involving two passenger cars. One subject
was trapped in the drivers seat. After being extricated, he was airlifted
to the Hospital of the University of Penn. The driver of the other
car refused treatment.

One vehicle accident involving a passenger car the lost control and
went head on into a bridge. All three of the occupants were injured.
One was airlifted to Hospital of the University of Penn., one was
taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center and one was taken to Mercy
Community Hospital.

Three vehicle accident involving two cars and a pickup truck. There
were three injuries with one subject trapped. Two patients were transported

Three vehicle accident involving two passenger cars and a Paramedic/Rescue
Unit from Mercy Community Hospital. A driver of one of the cars was
injured and taken to Mercy Community Hospital. Paramedic Armand Alessi
was slightly injured but refused transport to the hospital.

One vehicle accident involving a Ford Bronco that lost control and
struck a tree. Both the driver and passenger were injured and were
transported by ground to Crozer Chester Medical Center by Marple &
Media Ambulances.

One vehicle accident involving a passenger car that lost control on
the on ramp to I-476 and flipped over the guard rail and landed on
it roof about 15 feet above the Media By-pass. The patient received
minor injuries.

One vehicle accident involving a passenger car. Driver was leaving
the 7-Eleven Store across the street and lost control and the car
sped across both parking lots and into the building. The patient was
transported to Mercy Community Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

One vehicle accident involving a passenger car that struck a guard
rail on I-476 @ Route 3 (W. Chester Pike), that continued down I-476
and exited off onto Rt. 1 and pulled over. All three people in the
vehicle were injured including a back seat passenger which was trapped
and received serious leg and chest injuries. The Rose Tree Fire Company
was the rescue company and freed the patient quickly. The patient
was flown by PennStar Helicopter to HUP. One patient taken by ground
to CCMC and 2 taken to Riddle Memorial Hospital.

One vehicle accident involving a pickup truck hauling a trailer full
of motorcycles. Patient was ejected from the pickup truck during the
accident. Patient was air lifted to HUP.
