Marple Township Ambulance Corps & the NEW EMS TAX

In late 2004 Pennsylvania Act 222 was signed into law allowing municipalities to levy a payroll tax for the purpose of police/fire emergency services; road construction and maintenance and / or real estate tax reduction. This tax is levied at the rate of $52.00 per individual per year and if applicable replaces the Occupational Privilege Tax. Quite often, this tax has been referred to as the new “EMS TAX”.

It has been brought to my attention that some residents believe that they should not contribute to the Marple Township Ambulance Corps’ fund drive because the Marple Township is now giving the Corps this generated revenue. This is not true. The Marple Township Administration has directed these funds to be earmarked for REAL ESTATE TAX REDUCTION.

Please contribute to our fund drive. Your support is greatly appreciated. Also, if you have any questions about Marple Ambulance or this tax, please contact us at 610-356-1639.
